9/2/2007 - It will never be "Complete"

So it's been a while since I made a post in this Journal. I've been working on little odds and ends as I work toward "completion", although complete is a relative term. Throughout my use of this telescope I will always be making improvements and additions and diligently keeping it in good working order. Aside from using the scope a few times since First Light, I've set the wheel barrow handle inserts into the rocker box with epoxy, installed the fan plate and its simple one plug wiring for power, and ordered the light shroud. Other than that, the remainder of my summer has been pretty busy.
ENTRY PICTURES
The fan is mounted to a poly-carbonate plate and connector is soldered to fan leads. The fan plate will be held to the tailgate with super strong rare Earth magnets. This is done for easy removal and access to the lower collimation bolt. The connector in the picture will connect the fan wiring to the wiring soldered to power plug mounted in the mirror box wall. To remove the fan, I simply undo this connector and pull the plate from the tailgate.
This picture shows the male power cable from the battery on the left, the female plut that will be mounted permanently in the mirror box wall and the connector which will solder to its leads and connect to the fan's connector.
Here I am drilling the mounting hole to mount the female plug for the fan's power. The scotch tape is a simple way to avoid splintering the veneer on the outside of the mirror box when drilling the hole. After this I mounted the fan, connected the connectors, plugged in the battery and it runs just perfectly!
The light shroud has arrived! Nice fit!
