INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the K-20 Project Journal. My name is Kevin and I’m a member of the  Amherst Area Amateur Astronomers Association in Amherst Massachusetts. I am also an avid ATM having completed a 4.5 inch f/8 classic Dobsonian, a 3 inch f/10 achromatic refractor, the restoration of a vintage 4 inch f/15 achromatic Steinheil Refractor and of course the construction of my 13.1 inch f/4.5 Obsession-style truss tube Dobsonian. I find using my 13.1 inch a truly enjoyable experience. Well performing optics combined with that buttery smooth, stop-on-a-dime mount and rigid truss tube always provide great evenings at the eyepiece and draw compliments at any star party I take it to. My latest, most complex and eagerly awaited project is a 20 inch f/5 Obsession-style truss tube Dobsonian. This scope will be built using the same book from Obsession Telescopes by David Kriege and Richard Berry titled The Dobsonian Telescope.   Now before I continue, please note that I do not work for Obsession and there are many great telescopes out there to fit everyones’ fancy; I’m simply a very satisfied customer who has learned firsthand that their design is second to none…ask anyone who owns an Obsession or has built one from their book. Gathering light for me will be a 20 inch, f/5 full thickness primary from John Hudek at Galaxy Optics. John’s reputation should speak for itself; his dedication to his business and his customers is impressive and my experience with Galaxy thus far has also been second to none, not to mention he is also one of Obsession’s suppliers.

As an ATM I enjoy the mechanics of and building telescopes just as much as I enjoy observing with them, they are truly instruments of beauty and precision. This website has been created for my family, friends, club and the astronomy community as a means for them to follow along as I build MY ultimate telescope. Enjoy and visit often!

Kevin.
